Internal Alterations
- Client: Private domestic client
- Project Size: 150 sqm
- Location: Peebles, Scottish Borders
- Status: Completed
Internal alterations to 1970’s detached house and associated landscaping.
This project involved the removal of internal partition walls to form a large open plan kitchen / dining space. A new shower room and utility space was created and the existing toilet was converted to form additional storage space. On the first floor further partitions were removed to form an open plan living space. A new timber deck was constructed to form a direct link between the upper ground floor living space and formerly inaccessible rear garden.
The orientation of the kitchen, sliding-folding window and raised deck were carefully considered to maximise the open views to the stunning backdrop of the local hills. The simple alteration of sill level to the living room window makes a strong connection between this space and large rear garden.
