Chaddock Hall & Barn

  • Client: Redwaters Property Developers
  • Project Size: 3800sqm
  • Location: Worsley, Lancashire
  • Status: Completed

Chaddock Hall is an historic Grade II Listed house and grounds in Worsley, on the outskirts of Manchester, in Lancashire. Dating from the 1200’s, its varied history stretches from sieges in the 14th Century to use as a girls’ school in the 1800’s. Following a catastrophic fire in 2014 the Hall has been completely rebuilt using historic materials, methods, and detailing.

cb3 design have worked with both Redwaters Developments and the Local Authority Conservation team to preserve the unique character of the listed buildings and create two new homes designed to suit the demands of contemporary living. All while honouring the hall’s historic significance.

The previously derelict, also Grade II Listed, Chaddock Barn is being given a new lease of life as part of the ongoing developments with Redwaters on the Chaddock Hall site.

This conversion preserves the barn’s distinctive historical character on a prominent roadside site while adapting it for modern commercial use. The project respects the building's heritage dating back to the 17th century, while introducing modern amenities that align with the business needs of today.

The 4 new semi-detached homes and a landscaped communal garden complete the development – an exemplar in how sensitive design and craftsmanship can breathe new life into, while preserving and protecting, historic properties.
