New Build House

  • Client: Private domestic client
  • Project Size: £365,000
  • Location: Lymm, Cheshire
  • Status: Complete

demolition of existing bungalow and full rebuild

A 5 bed, new build house, replaced a vacant bungalow, in a poor state of repair, on a large plot on the edge of the Cheshire Greenbelt and adjacent to the landmark Lymm Water Tower. The new dwelling is a split-level design, positioned further away from the neighbouring property for mutual benefit. Retaining a dormer bungalow appearance to the street scene, the rear opens out to two stories, with open views of the garden, and beyond to open fields. The design maximises the site's potential within strict planning policy requirements.

A carefully refined massing, treating the Northern and Southern elements individually provides a balance of increased living accommodation while minimising the impact on the site surroundings, sensitively addressing the transition across the site from residential street to open countryside.

Internally, the layout is modern and open plan in part, with large glazed elements to capture views and provide a comfortable series of spaces for family living and entertaining. A large garden is retained to complete the site.
