Cantilevered 2 storey rear extension

Posted

We get such a kick out of these ‘Before & After’ shots! When we first visited these lovely clients, they initially wanted a larger conservatory and an ensuite in their bedroom. As the garden drops away dramatically, we knew things would need a bit of thought to make the most of the site and maximise what we could offer as a solution. That solution turned out to be a little more than alterations to the conservatory and a new loo.

Before – Rear elevation prior to commencement of works

2 years on, after quite an involved construction journey – significant groundwork, removal, and rebuilding of the garage to provide access, steelwork and glazed sliding doors having to be craned over the house – the job is complete. A beautiful job carried out by https://www.facebook.com/ctdjoinery/

First floor extension with glazed balcony

The 2 storey extension increases the size of the master bedroom, which now has an ensuite, walk-in wardrobe and bespoke storage in the eaves. The glazed gable opens onto a covered balcony. At ground floor level, the kitchen has been relocated to the rear of the house and extended to provide a sunroom that opens onto a cantilevered balcony. The living room also now opens onto this glazed terrace. All of which offer spectacular views across to the Pentlands. We were so lucky to work with these clients, who trusted us to truly understand, and deliver, what was possible to achieve for them.
